Absences that do not prevent client from meeting obligations
Generally, a client receiving Sole Parent Support who has work obligations or work preparation activities assigned cannot be absent from New Zealand and continue to be paid a benefit unless:
- it is for one of the permitted travel reasons or
- they are already meeting their work obligations (by being in employment) or work preparation activities (by participating in employment related training)
and
- the travel will not prevent them continuing to meet these obligations (eg because it is during a period of annual leave or a term or semester break)
