Study
Clients have an obligation to advise Work and Income of any change in their circumstances that may affect their ability to meet their obligations on Sole Parent Support, such as commencing study.
When a Sole Parent Support client intends to or has commenced study, you will need to find out:
- the date study starts and
- the type of study, that is part-time or full-time
This will help you decide the appropriate review action required.
For more information see:
Client engaged in study or training
Clients can receive Sole Parent Support and undertake full-time or part-time study, or training as long as either:
- they can meet their work or work preparation obligations at the same time or
- they are eligible for an exemption from their work obligations in order to complete study or training
If a client is not able to study and meet their work or work preparation obligations on Sole Parent Support, and they are not eligible for an exemption, they should consider applying for assistance from StudyLink.
