Pre-benefit activities for new applicants

Pre-benefit activities are work-related activities that a client may be required to attend and participate in as part of their application for Sole Parent Support.

Clients who have had their benefit cancelled due to the 52 week reapplication process will be subject to the same pre-benefit activities as other clients applying for Sole Parent Support.

Exception

If a client has a job to go to within 13 weeks, they are not required to undertake pre-benefit activities.

If a client had a sanction imposed, before their benefit was cancelled as a result of the 52 week reapplication process, they should be asked to complete or undertake the activity they failed.

This activity should be assigned as a pre-benefit activity.

The pre-benefit activity must be assigned within 10 working days of the client's date of first contact.
