Study or training and transferring to Jobseeker Support
When discussing study or training options with clients on Sole Parent Support, MSD should take into consideration when the client will transfer from Sole Parent Support to Jobseeker Support.
MSD may need to have a discussion with clients in study or training about how their change of benefit when their youngest child turns 14 will mean that they may not be able to continue their study.
MSD should talk to the client about:
- whether they can finish their course of study or training before they shift to Jobseeker Support
- how they would complete their study or training on Jobseeker Support while still meeting their full-time work obligations
- whether they have considered accessing Student Loan and Student Allowance assistance instead
- whether they can access any other assistance, such as education and employment-related assistance, now, and what assistance they would be able to access on Jobseeker Support
