Example 1 - single client
Single client
A single client getting Supported Living Payment on theĀ ground of health condition, injury, disability or total blindness has personal earnings of $2000 (gross) annually.
The Blind Subsidy, which is calculated at 25% of a client's personal earnings from work, is $500.00. The client also has other income of $300.00 (gross) annually.
The annual income limit for a Blind Subsidy to be paid for a single client is $34,175.06 (at 1 April 2026).
The annual income limit for single clients is made up of the Blind Subsidy annual income limit for a married couple of $30,258.44 (at 1 April 2026) and a single supplement amount of $3,916.62 (at 1 April 2026). This equals $34,175.06.
Total income from all sources:
Supported Living Payment - single 18 and over (net at 1 April 2026) | $22,079.20 |
plus Other income (gross) | $300.00 |
plus Earnings (gross) | $2,000.00 |
plus Blind Subsidy (25% of earnings) | $500.00 |
Total | $24,879.20 |
As the client's total income is less than $34,175.06 (at 1 April 2026), a Blind Subsidy of $500.00 annually would be granted.
