Change of address

When a client advises that they have changed their address it is important to check that the move does not affect their entitlement to Veterans Pension.

If the client is receiving Extra Help this will need to be reviewed to take into account their new costs.

If the client has a portion of their benefit paid to Kāinga Ora or Te Puni Kokiri this may need to be changed or cancelled.

The change of address may also indicate a change in the client's circumstances.

Examples of changes that may affect entitlement are:

  • client or partner commences or ceases employment (grandparented non-qualified partner included)
  • change of relationship status
  • dependent children who have come into or left their care

Legislation

A grandparented non-qualified partner is any person who was included in a New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension as a non-qualified partner before 9 November 2020 and is still included after 9 November 2020.
