Permanent absence
Generally, if a client is leaving New Zealand permanently, payments must be cancelled from the day after the client leaves New Zealand.
If the client is moving to a country that has a Reciprocal agreement with New Zealand they may qualify for a benefit or pension in that country.
If the client is moving to country that New Zealand does not have a Reciprocal agreement with, they may be able to receive part of their Veterans Pension payments.
If the client wishes to receive part of their Veterans Pension overseas, then it is important that they apply for 'portability' before they leave New Zealand.
