Commencement date

Veterans Pension commences on:

• the date of entitlement or
• the date of application

whichever is later.

Note applications from the Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau do not lapse after 20 days.

No stand-down applies to Veteran's Pension.

The back payment of Veteran's Pension is only allowed under the following circumstances:

• the veteran only has 'J-Force' service or
• the original decision was made in error
