Clients getting grandparented rate of Income Related Rent
When Kāinga Ora transfers a client to a community housing provider, the client no longer qualifies for the Income Related Rent grandparenting provisions.
On 1 December 2000, Income Related Rents replaced all accommodation assistance that was paid to Kāinga Ora clients and their partners.
The grand-parenting provision meant that clients living in Kāinga Ora properties at the time did not have a rate of Income Related Rent greater than what they were paying as rent before the change.
