Release from a joint tenancy agreement
Sometimes a client will contact their social housing provider and advise that they no longer wish to be part of a joint tenancy agreement (but still remain in the property) or leave the property all together.
A client has the right to be removed from a tenancy agreement but the decision to do this should be made by the social housing provider and the tenants jointly.
One tenant requests a transfer
One client or household unit may request a transfer from a joint tenancy.
The client or household unit will need to apply for an assessment to be allocated other social housing.
If they are qualify, they will be placed on the register.

No review of eligibility or housing needs required
The review of remaining signatories' eligibility for social housing and their housing needs (requirements) is not required.
The remaining tenant must advise of change in circumstances
The remaining tenant must advise us of any change in circumstances that might affect their Income Related Rent.
This would include when a joint tenant leaves the tenancy agreement and is either remaining in the property as an additional occupant or leaves the property all together.
The remaining tenant's calculated rate of Income Related Rent will need to be reviewed.
