Risk rating for accessibility
Accessibility measures the client's ability to access suitable alternative housing and considers whether the client's ability to access suitable alternative housing is impacted by:
- discrimination
- lack of cash resources for bond, rent and furniture
- availability of alternative housing in the area where the client currently lives or needs to live
The 4 levels of risk rating for accessibility
At risk (4) | The client is totally unable to access suitable, affordable and adequate accommodation in the private sector because of discrimination, lack of cash resources for bond, rent or furniture, or no suitable private sector housing is available. For example: - funds are not available for bond, rent in advance or necessary furniture
- the client or a household member is experiencing severe and persistent discrimination to the extent they are totally unable to access affordable, adequate, suitable and sustainable accommodation in the private sector
- the client or household member is experiencing persistent physical violence due to discrimination
- suitable private sector is not available where the client currently lives or needs to live
|
Serious housing need (3) | The client would have severe difficulty in accessing suitable, affordable and adequate accommodation in the private sector because of discrimination, or because of a lack of cash resources for bond, rent or furniture. For example: - minimal funds are available which could be used for a proportion of start-up costs (for example can pay one week bond only and has no funds for rent in advance, or furniture, and moving costs)
- the client or household member is experiencing discrimination to the extent they would have severe difficulty in accessing affordable, adequate, suitable and sustainable accommodation in the private sector
- the client or a household member is experiencing discrimination and physical violence has been threatened
|
Moderate need (2) | The client would have difficulty in accessing suitable, affordable and adequate accommodation in the private sector because of discrimination, or because of the lack of cash resources for bond, rent or furniture. For example: - funds are earmarked for other essential expenditure but could be used for start-up costs
- the client or a household member is experiencing some discrimination and would have some difficulty in accessing affordable, adequate, suitable and sustainable accommodation in the private sector
- the client or household member is experiencing moderate discrimination but is not concerned for their own or the household's health or safety
|
Low or no need (1) | There are no (or minimal) accessibility issues. Suitable alternative housing is available. For example: - funds are available for bond, rent and furniture
- there is no or very little discrimination and the client could access and sustain their own housing solution
- suitable private sector housing is available where the client currently lives or needs to live
