Assessing the amount of deprived income

If deprivation of income has occurred and the deprived income is to be counted back in, then, generally the assessed amount of deprived income is the actual amount of income that the person has deprived themselves of or has previously been assessed to contribute.

The amount of the deprived income must be included as assessable income.

For example if money previously invested is transferred to a non-income earning account then the amount previously being earned on the investment would be deemed the deprived income.
