Insufficient information to calculate Income Related Rent

A prospective tenant must provide all the necessary information required for the calculation of Income Related Rent.

You need to be satisfied that a prospective tenant has declared their correct and relevant circumstances.

If the rate cannot be confirmed at the time the client is placed in a property you should not delay the placement process for the housing provider. Instead you should notify the housing provider that a rate of Income Related Rent cannot be calculated.

When they get the notice:

• Kāinga Ora must charge the market rent rate for the property or
• the community housing provider may set the rent themselves but it must not be higher than the market rent rate for the property
