Employment and income changes

When a client starts employment or has other changes in their income, it needs to be determined if the change is temporary or permanent.

The income threshold and the ability of the client to afford to rent accommodation in the private housing market must be reviewed.

Income changes affect the indicative rate of Income Related Rent and eligibility for social housing.

If an income change is permanent this may affect the client's eligibility for social housing when the client's income exceeds the income thresholds or changes the outcome of the affordability criteria.

If the change in income is permanent the client's indicative rate of Income Related Rent will need to be reviewed in line with their new income details.
