Referrals to jobs with drug test requirements
When you are referring a client to a drug tested job, you should:
- consider if the job is suitable for the client, regardless of the drug test
- let the client know that the employer may require them to pass a pre-employment drug test
- ask the client if they would pass a pre-employment drug test and
- ensure the client understands the potential consequences of failing a pre-employment drug test
There are certain situations where it is not appropriate to refer a client to drug tested jobs. In these situations you should consider that, because of the drug test requirements, the job is not suitable.
