Partner studying
If a student's partner is studying, the partner must complete their own Student Allowance application.
Even if the partner states that they do not study more than half of a full-time course or that they are not studying a recognised programme, it is important to check the EFTS value of the partner's enrolment.
The EFTS value of the partner's enrolment will determine the student's allowance rate, or if each student can establish their own entitlement to a Student Allowance. Where a course has no EFTS value other forms of determining the quantity of study will need to be undertaken.
Any consequences for payment as a result of a change in eligibility or entitlement must be discussed with the couple.
