Secondary students aged 16 or 17 years

A secondary student aged 16 or 17 years old can qualify for a Student Allowance if they meet the standard Student Allowance eligibility criteria and:

• they have a partner and
• have a supported child

Note secondary school students aged 16 or 17 years cannot receive an Independent Circumstances Allowance, but may qualify for Youth Payment or Young Parent Payment.
