Obligations
Clients are obliged to advise Work and Income of any changes in their circumstances that may affect their entitlement to New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension.
Clients agree to this by signing the Veteran's Pension or New Zealand Superannuation application form, the payment overseas application form and the overseas details form.
Checking their tax liability with Inland Revenue in New Zealand or the tax agency in the country they are moving to is the responsibility of the client.
Clients must keep International Services up to date with their travel movements if they are travelling. Any evidence requested to support that a client is travelling must be given to International Services (especially relevant for a client travelling through a social security agreement country).
Clients must also advise International Services when they move between countries.
Examples of changes and how to deal with these can be found in Changes and reviews - New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran's Pension paid under General Portability.
