Permanent return to New Zealand
If a client has returned to live in New Zealand permanently, payments are stopped by International Services from the payday after their date of return.
To allow International Services to stop a client's overseas payments, the client must make an appointment at a Service Centre. At this appointment the client must complete a "Personal Details Form" to inform MSD whether they intend to remain in New Zealand, and the date they returned to New Zealand. The completed form should be forwarded to International Services along with a copy of the client's boarding pass or passport (to verify the date of return to New Zealand).
Once International Services have stopped the payments overseas they will contact the Service Centre or Veterans Pension Centre to arrange the resumption of New Zealand Superannuation or Veterans Pension. New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension entitlement must be reviewed by the Service Centre or Veterans Pension entitlement by the Veterans Pension Centre.
If the client is ordinarily resident in New Zealand payments can be increased to the relevant domestic rate from the payday after the client's date of return.
