Accommodation Supplement
When a client is receiving a Canadian pension that exceeds the New Zealand main benefit rate, the excess amount will be directly deducted from any Accommodation Supplement the client receives.
You will need to calculate the amount that the client would be entitled to receive by way of a New Zealand benefit or pension and the rate of Accommodation Supplement that would be payable alongside that benefit or pension.
The Canadian pension should be deducted from the total New Zealand benefit and Accommodation Supplement, and the balance will be the actual rate of Accommodation Supplement payable.
Note that you will need to manually add this amount in SWIFTT using the SASA screen.
Disability Allowance
When a client is receiving a Canadian pension that is considered to be in the nature of a Disability Allowance, it will be directly deducted from any New Zealand Disability Allowance, but not any other New Zealand benefit.
