Veterans Pension
When a client from Canada meets all the qualifications for the New Zealand Veterans Pension except residence they may qualify under the agreement with Canada.
The agreement with Canada allows Canadian creditable periods from the age of 20 to be regarded as residence in New Zealand for a client to meet the period of residence qualification for Veterans Pension.
For advice on the qualifications for Veterans Pensions contact the Veterans Pension Centre
The client must meet the New Zealand service and disability qualifications.
The client may also be entitled to a Canadian Pension, which may be directly deducted from the New Zealand Veterans Pension.
A Canadian creditable period accumulated under the Old Age Security Act which coincides with a period accumulated under the Canada Pension Plan can only be taken into account once.
