Application lodged prior to departure

When a client advises that they intend to live in Jersey/Guernsey they will need to:

  • complete an Application for Payment Overseas form (WIS7W)
  • provide details of the total period of their residence in New Zealand
  • provide their passport and one other form of identification and
  • provide their air tickets or travel itinerary to confirm that they are travelling to Jersey/Guernsey

The application and supporting documents should be sent to International Services for processing.

An interview form must be completed and sent to International Services.

Exception Jobseeker Support (on grounds of health condition, injury, or disability) is not payable outside New Zealand.

If the client is not yet getting a New Zealand benefit an application should be taken and entitlement established in accordance with the qualifications for the particular benefit (except for Supported Living Payment (health condition, injury, disability, or totally blind), the client does not need to be ordinarily resident in New Zealand).

The client can use their periods of insurance in Jersey/Guernsey to meet the qualifications for the New Zealand benefit or pension.

The client can use their partners or former partner's periods of insurance in Jersey/Guernsey to meet the qualifications for the New Zealand benefit or pension.

International Services should be contacted before any current New Zealand benefit is cancelled or suspended.
