Supported Living Payment
When a client from Jersey/Guernsey meets all the qualifications for the New Zealand Supported Living Payment (health condition, injury, disability or totally blind) except residence they may qualify under the agreement with Jersey/Guernsey.
The agreement with Jersey/Guernsey allows periods of contributions to the insurance scheme in Jersey/Guernsey to be regarded as residence in New Zealand for a client to meet the period of residence qualification for Supported Living Payment (health condition, injury, disability or totally blind).
Under the agreement the client must have contributed to the Jersey and Guernsey insurance scheme for a minimum of 12 months.
The client can use their own or their partner's (or former partner's) periods of contributions to the insurance scheme in Jersey/Guernsey to meet the New Zealand residence qualification.
The client may also be entitled to a Jersey/Guernsey pension, which may be directly deducted from the New Zealand Supported Living Payment (health condition, injury, disability or totally blind).
Note Supported Living Payment for the care of the sick or infirm is not payable under the Jersey/Guernsey Agreement.
