Refugee quota

Refugees with permanent residence are exempt from meeting the 2 years continuous residence criteria, so you should assess the client for Young Parent Payment in the usual manner.

Most refugees accepted as part of the United Nations quota receive permanent residence prior to arriving in New Zealand or during their period of resettlement at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre. These clients do not usually have any income or assets.
