Sanctions - 50% protection

Sanctions are applied differently for sole parents and married, civil union or de facto couples with dependent children who receive Young Parent Payment.

These young people do not have their whole payment sanctioned. Instead, a maximum sanction of 50% of their total Young Parent Payment may be imposed. The balance payable is known as 50% protection.
