Assets - non-beneficiaries
A non-beneficiary must meet a cash asset test before an Accommodation Supplement can be granted. To perform this test we need to know the cash value of their assets.
A non-beneficiary may be able to get the full rate of Accommodation Supplement if their assets are less than:
- $2,700 for a single person
- $5,400 for a sole parent, or a married, civil union or de facto couple
For every $100 that a non-beneficiary has over these limits, add $1.00 to their income amount for Accommodation Supplement purposes.
See example for detailed look at this process.
A non-beneficiary may be able to receive Accommodation Supplement if they (and any partner) have cash assets that don't exceed:
- $8,100 for a single person
- $16,200 for a sole parent or a married, civil union or de facto couple
If a non-beneficiary (and any partner) has cash assets greater than the limit shown above, they cannot get Accommodation Supplement. There are two exceptions, for more information see:
SWIFTT process
Add the value of the cash assets to the INCMA screen.
Enter the net equity of non-cash assets on the SADTA screen.
In the case of a non-beneficiary, SWIFTT will automatically assess $1.00 income for every $100 of assets when Accommodation Supplement is granted or reassessed.
