Billeting

Accommodation providers who billet an evacuee can include private homes where the host is the evacuee's parent, relative, friend or partner (providing they were not living together at the time of the civil defence emergency).

If billet costs include the provision of food, ensure that any further payments for food are for additional food requirements not supplied by the accommodation provider.

At a local level, the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management is likely to be involved in organising billets for evacuees.

Payments are only available until the evacuees are able to return to their home.
