Food, clothing and bedding

Additional payments can be made to affected people for food, clothing and bedding to meet immediate and essential needs during the recovery from the civil defence emergency or adverse event.

Civil Defence Payments for food, clothing and bedding up to the allowable maximum, are not counted when calculating the amount of Special Needs Grant assistance available during a 52 week period and no income or asset test applies.

Note payments for evacuees are generally only available until they can return to their home.

However payments can be made at the point they return to their home if they need to replace household food and bedding, subject to the maximum limits.
