Death of a client

When a client is receiving a main benefit, Temporary Additional Support stops from the same date as the main benefit.

For non-beneficiary clients Temporary Additional Support generally stops from the day after the date of death. However, there is some discretion to continue payment for up to 28 days following the date of death:

• to avoid creating a debt or
• as terminal benefit when there are other circumstances that justify payment

Note when a client has a Community Services or SuperGold Card [no link find out why] , the card must be manually cancelled and death details added to Person Details latch in CMS.

The person responsible for the cost of the funeral may be able to receive a Funeral Grant.
