Partner temporarily overseas

If the partner was resident in New Zealand but has left the country temporarily, MSD must take into consideration the individual circumstances of the person who has left the country when deciding whether or not to continue Temporary Additional Support.

The partner overseas may continue to get Temporary Additional Support at the existing rate for up to 28 days provided none of their other circumstances have changed. The partner's Temporary Additional Support should be stopped from the 29th day if they have not returned.

In no circumstances should payment continue when the partner is overseas for longer than 28 days.
