Deferrals
A client can be temporarily deferred from some of their work obligations when they:
- have a health condition, injury or disability, and have no capacity to work, or only the capacity to work for less than 15 hours per week or
- are 27 weeks pregnant or more, or have complications with the pregnancy
Note partners who are 27 weeks pregnant or more, or have complications with their pregnancy, may qualify for an exemption from their work obligations. See: Exemptions
Deferrals are considered based on a client's individual circumstances.
The client doesn't have to make an application for a deferral.
A letter will be sent to the client when a deferral is added, advising why the deferral has been granted and the length of time it will be granted for.
Clients who have a health condition, injury or disability will get reminder letters during the 4 weeks before their expiry date, advising of their deferral expiring and what they need to do to extend the deferral or meet the qualifications for Jobseeker Support on grounds of health condition, injury disability
