Example - Money Management starts in the middle of the week
Money Management may start in the middle of the week, resulting in partial payments.
Example
Keriana is getting Jobseeker Support of $372.55 a week (as at 1 April 2026). She fails an obligation without a good and sufficient reason and her case manager decides to impose Money Management. Her first day of Money Management is Thursday 10 July.
Because Keriana's Money Management begins in the middle of the week, only part of her benefit payment for the following week will be under Money Management. This means she will get more than 50% of her benefit into her bank account.
Note: the benefit might not divide evenly by 2. When this happens, the higher amount (1 cent more) will be paid to the client's bank account.
How the first week of Money Management is paid
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday |
Full payment to client's bank account | Money Management imposed Client's weekly rate ($372.55) x (number of days that week that Money Management is imposed (4) ÷ 7) = $212.88 50% put onto payment card $212.88 x 0.5 = $106.45
Total payment onto payment card = $106.45
Remainder paid into client's bank account (weekly benefit amount minus amount paid to payment card) = $372.55 - $106.45 = $266.10
Total payment into client's bank account for the week: $266.10
How the second and third week of Money Management is paid
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday |
Money Management imposed Client's weekly benefit amount = $372.55 50% put onto payment card $372.55 x 0.5 = $186.28 onto payment card
Remainder paid into client's bank account (weekly benefit amount minus amount paid to payment card) = $372.55 - $186.28 = $186.27
Total payment into client's bank account for the week: $186.27
How the final week of Money Management is paid
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday |

Total payment onto payment card = $79.83
Remainder paid into client's bank account (weekly benefit amount minus amount paid to payment card) = $372.55 - $79.83 = $292.72
