Example 1 - approved position starts during search period

Greer has Community Work Experience imposed on Monday as her non-financial sanction after failing a work obligation. She already volunteers at her local city mission and arranges with them to complete her Community Work Experience position.

She provides verification of the organisation and the position on Friday, and advises she can start the next day and complete her required hours for the week.

MSD approves the organisation and position, and Greer's position period begins on Saturday.

Example 2 - approved position starts after search period ends

Anaru has had Community Work Experience imposed as his non-financial sanction after failing a work obligation. On day 10 of his search period, Wednesday 10 June, he finds out his marae is starting a working bee next week.

They are happy to offer Anaru the required hours and weeks for a Community Work Experience position, but the first day they need him is 3 days after the search period ends, Wednesday 17 June. They can give him 3 hours on the first day and 3 hours the day after. He contacts MSD to let them know about his position.

As Anaru found the position within the search period, he's able to do 5 hours within the first week, and the organisation and position are approved. His position period starts on Monday 15 June, and he starts doing the required hours on day 3 of the position period, Wednesday 17 June.
