In approved study

Partners who are in study approved by MSD may qualify for an exemption from their work obligations.

When an exemption is approved, MSD may set conditions for the exemption. For example, the partner must be passing their course of study.

Exemption from work obligations

A partner can be exempt from meeting some or all of their work obligations if they:

  • are in full-time study approved by MSD or
  • were in MSD approved study when their work obligations started, and they are still in that study

Proof

The partner must provide proof they are in study, such as enrolment forms or a training statement from their training provider.

Duration

When an exemption is approved, MSD sets a duration for the exemption.

Generally an exemption can be in place until the earlier of:

  • the end of the client's current course of study or
  • the end of the current academic year or
  • up to 12 months

Continuing study

If the partner is continuing their study the following year, they must get a new exemption approved.

They must also provide confirmation they passed at least 50% of their course the previous year.
