Parenting obligations

Young partners aged 16 to 19 years old with a dependent child or children are required to:

• participate in an approved parenting programme
• enrol their child with a primary health care provider, where a local provider is available
• register their child (if aged under 5 years) with a Well Child/Tamariki Ora provider and keep up-to-date with their visits and
• ensure the child's attendance at an approved Early Childhood Education programme or in other suitable childcare, while they are in education, training, work-based learning or part-time work
