Recompliance through employment

Full-time employment

A client or partner, who has a 13-week non-entitlement period and full-time work obligations, can recomply by getting full-time work. This work must last at least 6 continuous weeks.

At the end of these 6 weeks, the 13-week non-entitlement period ends. If the client or partner wants to restart their benefit, they will have to reapply. The benefit is granted from the date their employment ceased.

Note provisional benefit is not paid during the 6 weeks of full-time employment.

Part-time employment

A client or partner, who has a 13-week non-entitlement period and part-time work obligations, can recomply by getting part-time work. This work must last at least 6 continuous weeks, for an average of 20 hours or more each week.

At the end of 6 weeks, the 13-week non-entitlement period ends. The client or partner’s benefit is reinstated to their usual benefit, instead of a provisional benefit.

If the client or partner leaves the job before the end of the 6 weeks, any provisional benefit paid must be established as a debt and the rest of the non-entitlement period is imposed.

The client or partner can still recomply during the rest of the 13-week non-entitlement period by participating in another approved activity.

Note the income the client gets from their employment is charged against the provisional benefit rate.

For when to grant or increase the benefit, see:
