Verification of evidence at end of 4-week period
A client must provide MSD with evidence of their attendance and participation in their employment-related training or course at the end of the 4-week period.
This is to prove that they have attended and participated in the required 5 hours of employment-related training or course per week over the 4-week period.
MSD must determine the evidence provided is sufficient and shows that the client has completed the requirements of Upskilling each week. For example, clients could show a record of their attendance in their employment-related training or course.
In some situations, it may not be reasonable for a client to provide evidence for parts of the employment-related training or course they have attended and participated in. Clients are not expected to provide evidence that is unreasonable for them to get in their circumstances.
5-day verification window
There may be times when MSD is not able to process the information before the end of the 4-week sanction period.
To prevent a client from being disadvantaged due to processing delays, there is a 5-day verification window at the end of the position period. This allows MSD to process information a client has provided and ensures a client's payment will continue.
Note this is not extra time for a client to attend or participate in their employment-related training or course.
No action from MSD
The client will be considered non-compliant if, after 5 days:
- MSD has not been able to confirm if the client has attended and participated in their employment-related training or course or
- the client has not provided sufficient evidence for MSD to determine they have met the requirements of Upskilling
This may result in a debt for the client.
