End of Sustainable Employment Trial

The client needs to be informed of the possible outcomes that will be available at the end of the Sustainable Employment Trial period.

At the end of a Sustainable Employment Trial, a number of different outcomes for the client are possible.

These may include the following:

  • the client ceases employment
  • investigate the reasons the client ceased employment and if there are no obvious barriers then you should consider whether the client still meets the qualifications for Supported Living Payment.
  • the client wishes to reduce their hours to below 15 hours a week

eg they cannot sustain the 15 hours or more due to their illness or disability

  • the client cannot sustain the job and wishes to try a different job with different duties, either with the same or a new employer
  • the client continues to regularly work 15 or more hours a week, therefore they no longer meet the qualifications for Supported Living Payment.

the client's Supported Living Payment should be cancelled; check their eligibility to other assistance. If the client disagrees with your decision to cancel their benefit, they can review the decision.
