Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit under 3 years
This exemption may apply to partners with work obligations.
In some cases a partner may be caring for a child under 3 years for whom they are receiving Orphans Benefit or Unsupported Childs Benefit.
Partners granted this exemption will be subject to work preparation obligations.
Duration
This exemption can be granted in SWIFTT for 12 months initially or to when the child turns 3 years old, whichever is earlier.
The exemption can be renewed after 12 months provided the child is still under 3 years and the parent still qualifies for benefit.
SWIFTT process
Partners who receive Unsupported Childs Benefit or Orphans Benefit for a child under 3 years are not automatically exempt in SWIFTT. You need to add an exemption on the main benefit record via SWTDA in SWIFTT.
