Debt Repayment Orders

All Debt Repayment Orders are sent directly to the Central Processing Unit for processing.

Debt Repayment Orders are issued by the Ministry of Justice under the Insolvency Act 2006 and can be issued when the client is an un-discharged bankrupt.

Unlike other Ministry of Justice attachment orders, Debt Repayment Orders are not subject to any protected earnings rate. Payment is generally made to the supervisor of the debt but occasionally the District Court will act as an agent for collection of the debt.

Payment continues for 3 years or until further notice is received from either the supervisor or the District Court.

Unlike Ministry of Justice attachment orders, Debt Repayment Orders are administered via the PYECI screen in SWIFTT, not through CORBI.

Legislation

Debt Repayment Orders are issued by the Ministry of Justice under the Insolvency Act 2006. These can be issued where the client is an undischarged bankrupt.

It means the client is unable to immediately repay debts but can pay some or all of them over time.

Repayment is usually over a 3 year period.

Data Integrity maintains this table.

There is one main fine account for 'fine attachments' and 'voluntary allotments'. The other accounts are used when a civil attachment is added. This is when a 3rd party debt is payable to the district court.
