Dependent child included in social housing assessment
To qualify for the emergency housing fast-track, the client's dependent child must be included in the client's social housing assessment.
Shared care arrangement of dependent child
A dependent child who is in a shared care arrangement can only be included in a client's social housing assessment if the child is a full-time member of the client's household.
Dependent child not staying in emergency housing
A client may have a dependent child who does not stay with them in emergency housing (or who only stays with them some of the time).
Clients in this situation may still qualify for the emergency housing fast-track, as long as their dependent child is included in their social housing assessment.
Example
Taylor is staying in a motel paid for by an Emergency Housing Grant and has been there for 4 months.
Taylor has 2 dependent children, who are staying elsewhere with family members while Taylor is in emergency housing. The children visit him in the motel most weekends.
Taylor's dependent children are included in his social housing assessment, as they will be full-time members of his household when in social housing.
Taylor qualifies for the emergency housing fast-track, even though his dependent children do not stay with him in emergency housing.
