Ending grandparenting provision when client no longer qualifies
The Income Related Rent grandparenting provisions will end if the client:
- moves from the Kāinga Ora property where the reduction was included in the calculated rate of Income Related Rent
- is a sole tenant (who qualified for grandparenting) who dies or
- has an abated cap that is less than or equal to $0.00
Exception
When the client initiates a transfer from a Kāinga Ora property to another Kāinga Ora property the Income Related Rent grandparenting provisions will end; however when Kāinga Ora initiates the transfer, the client will retain the appropriate grandparenting provisions.
The client will not retain the grandparenting provisions if they move from a Kāinga Ora property to a community housing provider property.
