Sustainability of alternative housing
Sustainability measures the likelihood of a tenant being able to sustain alternative housing.
Sustainability takes into account:
- financial management abilities
- any known expected changes in situation in the next 52 weeks
- the impact moving properties might have on the tenant's ability to maintain independent living
- social skills
Determining when the sustainability criteria is met
A tenant meets the sustainability criteria when:
- they have financial management issues
- known future changes in their financial circumstances will impact on their ability to afford and sustain alternative housing
- they have a high level of social dysfunction requiring a high level of support networks
- moving to alternative housing will severely impact on their ability to maintain their independent living
If a tenant cannot sustain alternative housing, they will continue to qualify for social housing under the sustainability criteria.
If a tenant can sustain alternative housing, they will not continue to qualify for social housing.
