Changes and reviews for Maltese pensions
A client is required to advise details of any changes in their circumstances that may affect their entitlement to a New Zealand benefit or pension.
You may also review a benefit at any time to ensure that the client still meets the qualifications and is receiving the correct rate of payment.
A client is also obliged to provide any information required by the Maltese authorities to ensure that they are still entitled to receive their Maltese pension in New Zealand. This will mainly be in the form of Life Certificates.
Note Malta may also request details about any service pension or superannuation paid by a former employer. This allows Malta to assess entitlement to a non-contributory (means tested) scheme.
Adverse Action
When MSD matches a client's information with information from Malta, MSD must send a written notice of adverse action to the client.
A notice of adverse action is only required upon receipt of the first information match.
