Rate payable in Malta
When New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension is paid to a client in Malta the rate of payment is calculated using the following formula:
- count the number of whole months of New Zealand Working age residence and
divide by
- 540 months and
multiply by
- the full maximum rate of payment
The minimum payment that can be paid is:
- 12/540 of the maximum rate of payment or
- 50% of the maximum rate of New Zealand Superannuation if the client was already receiving this amount under the General Portability provisions (in Malta) prior to the implementation of the agreement with Malta on 1 December 2013.
The maximum rate that can be paid is:
- 100% of the gross rate of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension
Note if the client has a third country pension it is not directly deducted from the rate of New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension payable.
