New Zealand benefits and pensions in Malta
Under the agreement with Malta, the following New Zealand pensions can be paid for former New Zealand residents who live, or intend to live, in Malta:
- New Zealand Superannuation
- Veteran's Pension
Other benefits and pensions
The agreement with Malta does not allow for any other New Zealand benefits or pensions to be paid in Malta.
Totalisation
A widow or widower living in Malta may be able to use their deceased spouse or partners New Zealand Working Age Residence in order to meet contributory requirements for widows payments in Malta.
Note the agreement with Malta only allows for the exchange of information in relation to retirement and old age pensions. Information on the Maltese widows and widowers cannot be exchanged between New Zealand and Malta. Any information will need to be provided by the client.
