Commencement of payment in Malta

When a client applies for New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension to be paid in Malta before their departure payments will start on the first payday after their departure.

When a client applies from Malta, the New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's pension will start on:

• the date they become entitled to New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension
• the date the agreement with Malta came into force or
• the earlier of the date they either applied for a New Zealand benefit or a Maltese pension

whichever is the latest date.

The Maltese authorities will forward the application form and supporting documentation to International Services.
