Changes and reviews for Korean benefits

Clients must give us details of any changes in their circumstances that may affect their entitlement to a New Zealand benefit or pension.

We can review a benefit at any time to make sure the client still meets the qualifications and is getting the correct rate of payment.

Clients must provide any information the Korean authorities need to make sure they are still entitled to get their Korean old age benefit in New Zealand. This is usually a Life Certificate.

Note Korea may also request details about any service pension or superannuation paid by a former employer. This allows Korea to assess entitlement to a non-contributory (means tested) scheme.

Adverse Action

When MSD matches a client's information with information from Korea, MSD must send a written notice of adverse action to the client.

A notice of adverse action is only required upon receipt of the first information match.
