Payment to the non-sanctioned partner
For married, civil union or de facto couples getting Young Parent Payment, their benefit is not apportioned.
When a young person has their Young Parent Payment sanctioned, the non-sanctioned partner will continue to get:
- their full Young Parent Payment and any incentive payments they have earned and
- where the other young person is subject to a grade 3 sanction, 50% of the supplementary assistance the couple was entitled and the full rate of Winter Energy Payment
Note this may or may not be paid under youth money management.
Accommodation Supplement and Temporary Additional Assistance can only be paid to one person. The YSSU will need to:
- regrant supplementary assistance to the non-sanctioned young person and pay at 50% of the rate the couple were getting prior to the sanction being imposed
- review each of the young persons' redirections
Where the non-sanctioned young person is already getting the supplementary assistance, the YSSU will need to reduce the amount they are getting by 50% and review the non-sanctioned young person's redirections.
