Completing a Jobseeker Profile for partners
A Jobseeker Profile is a form provided by MSD where clients provide information about their work skills, qualifications, and preferences. This information helps MSD to match clients to job vacancies or identify skill gaps that MSD may be able to help clients bridge through referrals to courses or training.
Partners of clients applying for specified benefits are required to complete a Jobseeker Profile to MSD's satisfaction before their benefit can be granted. These benefits are:
- Jobseeker Support, including Jobseeker Support Student Hardship
- Emergency Benefit (with work-related conditions of grant only)
Note this does not apply to reapplications for Jobseeker Support.
Conditions of grant for Emergency Benefit
When a primary client is being granted an Emergency Benefit, their partner is only required to complete a Jobseeker Profile if the primary client will have conditions of grant that are similar to work obligations.
For example, if a primary client is being granted Emergency Benefit with conditions of grant that are similar to work obligations for Jobseeker Support, the partner will be required to complete a Jobseeker Profile.
If the primary client does not have work-related conditions of grant, the partner is not required to complete a Jobseeker Profile. However, as the partner will have work or work-preparation obligations, MSD may still assign a Jobseeker Profile as a pre-benefit activity.
For more information see:
Student Job Search
Partners of students who are applying for Jobseeker Support Student Hardship have to register for Student Job Search as part of their application, if they are also a student. This registration includes all the same information as a Jobseeker Profile, which means this is enough to satisfy the Jobseeker Profile requirement for students.
Partners with youth activity obligations
Some clients applying for Jobseeker Support or Emergency Benefit may have a partner who is subject to youth activity obligations.
Youth activity obligations are focused on education and training rather than employment.
Partners who are subject to youth activity obligations are not required to complete a Jobseeker Profile.
For more information see:
- Youth activity obligations
Completed to MSD’s satisfaction
The Jobseeker Profile must be completed to MSD’s satisfaction before the partner’s requirement to complete a Jobseeker Profile can be met.
This means that a partner must provide up to date and relevant information. If a partner has had a Jobseeker Profile previously, MSD must make sure that this has been updated to include relevant information.
